robotic arm part 3: making a new base

Feels like maybe should have split the video into two so that watch time percentage might be higher...haha but who cares about stats right? right? Robotic Arm part 2: figuring out the electronics

After so much talking, time to actually do some work. As learned from my initial attempt at building the robotic arm, it may be better to test whether all the electronics work first before mounting them on, in case that the electronics actually don't work together. In this review, I test the cutter on the construction site and doing some carving with it, at the end I also test it with something rather ambitious. GRAFF emailed me last year for me to test out their speed cutter, which I only got around to upload the review video now - so it's rather late. Wooden watch mark 4 - my most challenging project yet
Переглядів 15 тис.6 років тому
I feel like these videos aren't able to convey all the hardship that was involved in a project like this, from sanding each individual strap pieces, sorting out a compatible design, the misery I had with the crown and the broken stem, the accident with the watch hands... a lot of work was involved that would have been too lengthy and kind of boring for most viewers to see. To this date, this mu...

Can I ask why u decided to make the sliding table so heavy?? Did I see that u have a Lathe and a Milling machine in ur workshop?? Bro how can u afford those? U are so young. These are very expensive machines. U have these in ur shop or were they in ur school?? I remember those days of using Lathe's in my metalwork class back in the mid to late 1980's.. Yeah I'm old now.. haha! I'm about to embark on my own table saw build from scratch. I'm using steel in a lot of the build for strength. I thought u might have tried that but I'm just finding ur channel today and I noticed this was 5 years ago?? I'm kinda guessing u upgraded the table saw at this stage?? I have some things in my stash of parts for building my own sliding table saw but it will not be that heavy and yet I will use some angled steel for part of the build. I have sub'd to ur channel bcos u worked very hard and it takes a lot for me to stick at things when they're not going the way I like and u are exactly the same bro. Best of luck man and keep working hard mate. I will check out some more of ur videos now I'm sub'd to ur channel. Take it easy man.. Salute to u from Dublin, IRELAND!

Nice project but in my experience these ponds raise the working height to an uncomfortable extent. And they'll all eventually leak plus the crud is difficult to clean from the bottom. Each to their own I guess.

Nice idea lifted from the Veritas pond. However, the height of the box above the bench may make the unit uncomfortable to use and the crud that'll eventually end up in the pond will have to be seen to be believed. The sticky mat idea is a good one except that in my experience the stones always want to move. Better by far to make a simple wooden jig to retain the stones at their ends only making clean-up simpler provided everything's been varnished first.
